"Three Speed are a Melbourne band who have been playing together since early 1996, and consist of James O'Keefe on vocals and bass, Paul Gillett on guitar and vocals, and Bruce Allen on drums. In the course of their time together they have played at most of Melbourne's indie/rock venues, including the Corner, Evelyn, Club, Nicholson's Sarah Sands, and the Lounge. James is an experienced singer/songwriter, having formed the successful three piece act Mineral, and Bruce has been in the music industry for over ten years, working in both Sydney and Melbourne, most recently with Melbourne funk/soul band Easy. Paul is a newcomer to the music industry.

The band's latest demo, like their last one, was a home-made recording, with the band playing live through an eight-track mixer straight onto DAT. This method provides a very truthful record of the band's live sound as it maintains the spontaneity and rawness important to a good rock band. The four tracks on the tape are Hydro Boy, Bones, Mr Matey and What's up Glove? James is the vocalist/lyricist on the first and last tracks, Paul on the middle two.
